How to use a Compass Bezel - Watch and Learn #17

Long Island Watch · 135,734 views
In today's episode of Watch and Learn, we show you how to use the compass bezel. Many watches have the compass markings on the bezel or on the dial, but many people do not know how to use it. This handy little feature can help you find the 4 cardinal directions with only knowing where the sun is.

Using the compass bezel is based off the "boy scout trick" for finding North/South with nothing more than a watch. Hopefully after watching this video, you will always find your way home, or to safety! :)

EDIT: My friends in the Southern Hemisphere have shown I am incorrect! To use this trick in the southern hemisphere, instead of pointing the hour hand at the sun, you point the 12:00 marker at the sun, and then place the NORTH marker halfway between it and the hour hand. Thank you everybody who weighed in on it!
